Frankfurter Weihnachtsmarkt

In December we went to Frankfurt, Germany to bring a friend to the airport. Since Frankfurt is a bit of a drive we decided to make it a day trip and check out the Christmas market there. We ended up getting to the market about an hour before it opened so we walked around the area for a bit to scope out the market and we grabbed some Starbucks so we could use the bathroom. In Germany you have to pay to use public bathrooms except for inside restaurants.
The Frankfurt Christmas market is one of the oldest Christmas markets in Germany. Its origins date back to 1393. The market is huge. It spans over four sections of the area.
For lunch I got a frankfurter which is a hotdog. Hotdogs originated in Germany and then were popularized in the United States. It is a little bit different then a hotdog you would find in the states. You can get the frankfurter on rye bread or on a traditional hotdog bun. I decided on the bun. I also got gluhwein or mulled wine to go with it.
After lunch we decided to head back we had been there about 3 hours and we had about a 2 1/2 hour drive home. The market was great and had a ton of vendors and we had a great time.
